Controversial rapper Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has revealed that he has been arrested 19 times and detained on five occasions.
The ‘Bangdadadang’ singer shared this in a freestyle video posted on his social media page, rapping:
"Five lockups, 19 arrests, I get game but I no dey hear, when you hear this one, na Kuje."
GreatbeatNG recalls that Darlington was arrested twice in late 2024, in October and November, after mocking Burna Boy’s relationship with embattled American music mogul Sean Combs, aka Diddy. He was held at Kuje Correctional Facility and released on January 21, weeks after securing bail from a Federal High Court in Abuja.
Shortly after his release, Darlington claimed on social media that he had narrowly escaped an assassination attempt while returning from a club in Lagos.
In response to the controversy, his lawyer, Stan Alieke, announced that he and his firm were severing ties with the rapper. However, Speed Darlington dismissed the departure, stating that his lawyer was free to leave if he was no longer willing to support him.
